For evolving families who want more understanding and connection.

Family Therapy

Families change. Children grow up, relationships shift, new partners and family members enter the picture, responsibilities change, and the roles that once made sense do not always fit in the same way.

Sometimes families adapt easily. Other times, old patterns, expectations, hurts, or ways of communicating make it difficult to figure out how to relate to one another now.

Family therapy creates space to understand those patterns, navigate changing roles and relationships, and find new ways of relating to one another.

What we might work on

Communication + conflict
Recurring arguments • misunderstandings • criticism and defensiveness • difficult conversations • feeling unheard or misunderstood

Roles + relationships
Changing family roles • parent and adult-child relationships • sibling relationships • partners joining the family • expectations • loyalty and belonging

Connection + boundaries
Estrangement or distance • rebuilding relationships • boundaries • major transitions • unresolved hurt • figuring out what a healthier relationship can look like

What the work can look like

Families develop patterns over time for good reasons. Roles get established, expectations become familiar, and everyone learns something about how to keep the family functioning. The difficulty comes when the family changes but the pattern does not.

Understanding + Accountability
There can be room for everyone’s experience without requiring everyone to agree. Understanding why someone reacted the way they did does not erase the impact, and accountability does not have to require shame or blame.

Connection + Boundaries
Being connected does not require everyone to think, feel, or make decisions the same way. Sometimes healthier family relationships require clearer boundaries, different expectations, or learning how to stay in relationship while allowing one another to be different.

Old Patterns + New Relationships
Family therapy can help identify what belongs to the family’s history and what the relationship needs now. The work may involve having conversations differently, repairing old hurts, changing familiar roles, or practicing new ways of responding when an old pattern shows up.

The goal is not to return the family to how things used to be. It is to understand what has changed and explore what connection can look like now.
