Most couples do not come to therapy because they have stopped caring. More often, they have found themselves having versions of the same conversation, getting caught in familiar reactions, or feeling increasingly disconnected despite genuinely wanting things to be different.

Couples therapy gives us a place to slow those patterns down, understand what is happening between you, and practice new ways of responding to one another.

Relationships evolve. The patterns between you can, too

Couples Therapy

What we might work on

Communication + conflict
Recurring arguments • defensiveness • withdrawal • difficulty feeling heard • conversations that escalate or go nowhere

Connection + intimacy
Emotional distance • rebuilding closeness • affection and intimacy • trust • feeling more like roommates than partners

Change + repair
Life transitions • parenting and co-parenting • resentment • breaches of trust • changing needs • decisions about the future of the relationship

What the work can look like

Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right. We will pay attention to the pattern happening between you, while also making room for each person to take responsibility for their part in it.

The Pattern + Each Person’s Part
Relationships develop cycles. One person reacts, the other responds, and before long both people are having a familiar argument. Understanding the cycle can help take some of the blame out of the room, but it does not remove individual accountability.

Vulnerability + Accountability
There is room to understand where a reaction comes from and still ask what impact it has on the other person. The goal is not to avoid difficult conversations, but to have them more honestly and productively.

Connection + Practice
Insight into the relationship matters, but relationships change through what happens between sessions too. We may practice slowing down conflict, expressing needs more directly, listening differently, repairing after a difficult interaction, or trying a new response when the familiar pattern starts again.

You do not have to agree on everything. You can get better at what happens when you don’t.
